Wee Yogi Warriors

A fun introduction to awareness of self and foundational steps of yoga

Tailored to the needs of children from 2 years old. Interactive and social, it is all about connection. We use lots of songs and stories to make yoga fun and accessible for all children in a magical and playful way. Yoga at this age can make a huge difference in a child’s personal and social development as they start to develop their sense of self and how they interact with the world.

What do we do in a typical ‘Wee Yogi Warriors’ yoga session?

  • We settle ourselves in stillness and practice being in this present moment
  • We practice breathing techniques .. some of which are disguised as very fun activities!
  • We move our bodies as we read a story or go on a special yoga journey – practising balance, stretching and bending, practising our co-ordination.
  • We talk about how we can be good ‘yogis’ – being kind to ourselves and to others
  • We focus and challenge ourselves to try new things
  • We have fun together, connecting with friends
  • We relax and listen to a few minutes of kid friendly meditation/quiet time

This programme is currently only offered within private early childcare settings.  For more information on how you can access Wee Yogi Warriors in your facility, please contact us.

What benefits does 'Wee Yogi Warriors' provide for kids?

Yoga can help kids recognise their anxiety and give them tools to reduce it

Both the breathing exercises and relaxation techniques practiced can help children learn how to deal with stress.

Yoga can help kids regulate their emotions

It’s OK to get upset but recognising why it happens is a big step in emotional maturity.

Yoga can work to increase a kid’s self-esteem

Yoga increases a kid’s body awareness

The physical movements allow kids to learn about their bodies and their abilities developing their proprioception and interception skills.

Yoga can help develop concentration skills

A well as learning about their bodies, the different types of moves require kids to focus and work on their memory skills – which carry benefits for all types of learning.

Yoga develops strength and flexibility

Very beneficial for their growing bodies and helping to reduce the chances of injury.

Yoga can help to reduce impulsive behaviour

By providing a physical outlet for kids to express themselves yoga can help with many behaviour problems.
