Being a teen in today’s society is not easy and there are now more demands on our young people than ever before. In Teen Tribe we provide students with a safe space … to move … to speak … and just to breathe.
Yoga literally gives teens breathing space. Focussing on the breath gives our young people the opportunity to give an often stretched nervous system a rest. As well as promoting a positive body image, by lowering the stress response, it helps provide a healthy immune system and balanced hormones.
Yoga supports teens to make positive friendships, recognising when things are going well and how to manage when things aren’t. Yoga helps teens make better choices by learning to pause before acting impulsively.
Learning to cope with the challenge of balancing supports teens to discover what it means to find balance in all parts of their lives. The combination of physical activity, better breathing and relaxation promotes better sleep and learning.
Yoga is a microcosm of our teens lives where they can practice all the skills they need to cope well in times of great challenge and stress. Students feel relaxed and have fun while learning skills for life.
